Joining of Viqarunnisas newly-appointed principal stayed

The High Court (HC) yesterday stayed the joining of newly appointed principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Professor Fouzia Raozan till today (Tuesday) at 11am.
The HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Khairul Alam asked Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta to ensure not to joining Fouzia to the post of the principal till Tuesday
11am.
The HC bench came up with the order while hearing a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus
Ali Akond challenging Fouzias appointment.
During the hearing, DAG Amit Das Gupta told the court that to adjourn the hearing on the petition till Tuesday morning as the state lawyer wanted to place before the HC relevant law under which the government has appointed Fouzia as the principal of the institute.
Later, the HC bench adjourned hearing of the writ petition at 11am till today and asked the state lawyer to ensure that the newly appointed principal do not join in the post before passing its order on the petition.
In the petition, he said that the governing body of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College is the authority to appoint its principal whereas the government has authority to appoint the teachers.
But the government has illegally appointed Fouzia as the principal of the institution on September 15 though it has no jurisdiction to do so as per relevant rules and regulations, he said in the petition.
In 2018, principal Nazneen Ferdous and two other teachers of the institution were removed over the suicide of Aritry Adhikari, a student of the school.
Later, the authorities concerned of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College appointed its assistant professor Hasina Begum acting principal.
