The Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team yet again will prepare themselves for another away tour as soon as their return home from Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
This time the Bangladesh youth team is scheduled to tour to New Zealand for a bilateral series on September 24. This will be their last tour for the youth Tigers ahead of the ICC Under19 Cricket World Cup-2020, which is due to start in South Africa in between January (17) and February (9).
The Games Development of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held a meeting to evaluate the performance of their Under19 cricket ahead of their next bilateral tour to New Zealand because the team played three multinational tournaments within the past six months, where they lost to India in the final despite having played better cricket throughout the tournaments.
The BCB had arranged a reciprocal tour with New Zealand as a part of the preparation for their World Cup. The Kiwi youths are scheduled to travel here in Bangladesh in the aftermath of the Bangladesh national team’s tour but the brazen terror attacks in two mosques in Christchurch that killed 50 Muslims created furore across the world.
Bangladesh returned home skipping the third and final Test of the three Test series.
The team is now on vacation after coming home from Sri Lanka. They will return to business once again in September 20 for the tour of New Zealand.
The same squad might tour in New Zealand for a five-match youth ODI series.
