DU ‘Cha’ unit admission test held

UNB, Dhaka

The first-year honours admission test of ‘Cha’ unit ( General knowledge) under the Fine Art faculty for  2019-20 academic sessions of Dhaka University was held on Saturday.

One hour test was held from 10 am to 11 am at 19 centres inside the campus, said a DU press release.

DU Vice chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, Pro-vice chancellor (Administration) Prof Muhhamad Samad, Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, Fine Art Faculty dean Prof Nisar Hossain visited the examination halls. A total of 16,001 candidates appeared in the admission test against 135 seats under the unit.

DU MCJ alumni reunion held

UNB, Dhaka

A reunion of Dhaka University (DU) Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department Alumni Association was held on Friday at Teacher Student Centre (TSC) of the university.

The programme was inaugurated by DU former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at TSC auditorium.

Swapan Kumar Das, President of the Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Alumni Association (DUMCJAA), presided over the programme, while Prof Sakhawat Ali Khan and Former Chief Information Commissioner Prof Golam Rahman were, among others, present  Hundreds of former students of the department attended the event with family members and met their old friends and peers.

Addressing the programme, Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said, “It's a great opportunity for all the former students to meet their university friends, teachers, seniors and juniors through the reunion."

 Stressing the need for maintaining professionalism in all sectors Prof Arefin said, “I hope my all students will maintain professionalism in their own profession and brighten the name of department.”

Minister urges students to build

discrimination-free society

BSS, Dhaka

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Thursday called upon the students to be self-motivated for the establishment of a society without discrimination for the welfare of the people.

“For realizing the rights of the mass-people, students should be self-motivated to establish a society free from discrimination,” he said.

He made the call as the chief guest while addressing the installation ceremony of newly elected students of the Gono Bishwabidyalay Central Student Union on its campus premises in Savar.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M Enamur Rahman also spoke on the occasion. Mozammel urged the students to abstain from harmful activities including smoking and taking drugs saying they should engage themselves in the extra-curricular activities to avoid anti-social activities.

He said all should work sincerely for building non-communal country fulfilling the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
