A Dhaka court yesterday placed Motaleb Hossain, who was held on Friday at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with six gold bars, on two-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim Uddin passed the order as police produced Motaleb before court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand.
Motaleb, landed here from Muscat, Oman, on US-Bangla Airlines flight: BS 322, and was crossing Green Channel Area of the airport at around 11 am on Friday.
Being tipped off; customs preventive team members challenged him and found six gold bars weighing 698 grams hidden inside soles of his sandals.
The case was filed with Airport Police Station under customs act.
