Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan said that they focus on the Chattogram Test match how to win it whatever team they form for Afghanistan Test.

But whatever people say Bangladesh initially were in tether how pitches they will build for their opposition in the lone Test considering the stronger fast and spin battery of Afghanistan. Maybe it will be spinning track for the teams to the end despite having a string of wrist spinners-Rashid Khan, Zahir Khan and Qais Ahmed.

“No more secret of our gameplan will remain left if it is disclosed. Naturally, I will not tell about our plan what we have taken for the Afghanistan,” said Shakib Al Hasan.

“But whatever team we form will have effort for us to win the Test match against them,” Shakib told reporters at his pre-match press briefing at the press conference of the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city yesterday.

The skipper thinks that Test in Chattogram against Afghanistan will not be cakewalk for home batsmen rather it’ll be challenging for them to tame the Afghan prowling bowlers, adding that they have to try to stick to their basic to reach their ultimate goal.

“There will have challenges for the batsmen to perform against Afghan bowlers because those who are their fast bowlers are all good. Even spinners are also very good. Naturally a big challenge is waiting for our batsmen,” the Test skipper said.

“But I keep my full faith in our batsmen. Actually the preparation we have taken for the last few weeks, I think, we don’t need to do more than it. Everybody has given their best from their respective place,” “Now we can do something well if we could do it in the field what we have done in our practice sessions for the last few days,” he added.

The premier all-rounder categorically said that they should try to get momentum back and restore them that are really important for them right now.

“In Asia, toss is always important here. If you win it’ll give you the additional edge. But despite having so advantage or disadvantage, most important thing is that we can do well whatever we start bowling and batting. We can bring momentum back towards us. Then restoring the momentum is also important,” he opined.

“It’s an important point. Therefore, we have to think that when their A team plays here or played two-dayer match, their openers have given their test of patience. We have to consider this matter here. What we have done is to work our basic acts in right way. If we can fix our basic works and restore our concentration, I think, we will do some things better,” he added.

“When we go to take our preparation against a team, it is imperative to know about our strength and weakness, at the same time, it’s imperative for us to know about the opposition’s strength and weakness. The final decision is taken considering all the things. These decisions come from all. Maybe some opinions come and then the final decision is taken.”

The 32-year-old skipper said that batsmen have to come out of the stereotyped ideas and try to stay at wickets and make more runs as much as possible.

“There are two sides, the first of which batsmen feel confident when they play some sort of shots. Then self-confidence increases manifold.  Secondly, a batsman is never set until he scores runs,” he said.

“When you make 10 runs from 100 balls, you’re not set till then. But if you can make 40 or 50 runs from 10 balls, it’ll be set. So, we have to make runs. Only staying at wicket is not Test cricket what was earlier in Test. Now a batsman makes runs after being set at wickets. So there might be two things that are important for any batsman,” he clarified.

“I don’t know why Mushfiq bhai plays positive. Sometimes my self-confidence goes down but when I play some shots then my body opens for the next. Sometimes I practice at net for this,” he signed off.
