RUET teachers’ assoc rejects UGC policy

Teachers’ Association of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) rejected the unified policy proposed by the University Grant Commission (UGC) regarding public university teacher's appointment and promotion.

Around 150 teachers of the university formed the human chain in front of the RUET entrance around 1pm yesterday and rejected the UGC policy. President of the organisation SM Abdur Razzak at the programme termed the new policy as irrelevant and said the authority should coordinate with the university teachers to form such policy.

They said the policy is being put forcibly on all the teachers’ community though it was rejected by teachers of various universities. The new unified policy is a conspiracy to destroy the higher education system and contrary to the honour of the university teachers. The authority should drop the policy as soon as possible, he added.
