JS speaker seeks Indian support

UNB, Dhaka

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday sought Indian support over the repatriation of Rohingyas from Bangladesh to their place of origin in Myanmar's Rakhine state. She sought the cooperation during a meeting with Indian Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Male, the capital city of the Maldives. During the meeting, the two Speakers discussed the activities of parliamentary standing committees, parliamentary friendly groups, e-parliament and other issues apart from the Rohingya one. Over the Rohingya issue, Om Birla assured Dr Chaudhury that he would convey it to the Indian government.
