Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Prisons Training Academy soon

Government has taken initiatives to construct Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Prisons Training Academy in Keraniganj, Dhaka, Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said yesterday. He also said that to enhance the physical excellence and efficiency of the prison officials, the work of the Prisons Training Academy complex is underway in Rajshahi and within a few days construction work will be completed. He said this while addressing as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the 56th prison guard basic training programme on Kashimpur Prison Complex ground in Gazipur yesterday morning.

At the programme he urged the prison guards to prevent irregularities and corruption by promoting discipline and humanity. The minister said that lawyers have been appointed by the jail for the help of the poor and helpless prisoners by implementing the Legal Aid Services Act-20. On the other hand, legal assistance is being provided by the NGOs to run the paralegal advisory service in the jail. In the meantime, work has begun to provide half of the prisoners' income from the products produced by the prisoners.

Secretary of Home ministry (security service)  Mohammed Shahiduzzaman, Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Deputy Commissioner   of Gazipur SM Tariqul Islam, Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha, Deputy Inspector General Md Bazlur Rashid,  Additional Prison Inspector General colonel Mohammed Abrar Hossain, Senior Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-1 Subrata Kumar Bala were present in the programme.
