The three children, who were found dead on Friday afternoon at the Imam’s room of Purbo Koladi Jame Masjid, died due to inhaling toxic gas emitted from the three IPS batteries inside the room, according to the postmortem report, said Jehadul Kabir, Police Superintendent of Chandpur yesterday.
The children inhaled the toxic gas and turned unconscious as there was three IPS batteries in the small room with no window, the SP said adding that the emitted gas caused the suffocation in the airtight room.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah Al Noman, 6, son of Purbokaladi Jaam’e Masjid’s Imam Maulana Zamal Uddin; Ibrahim, 12, and Rifat, 8.
