State minister visits Krishna Roy

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury yesterday said a special committee has made recommendations to restore discipline on roads and highways and reduce accidents. Mahmud was speaking to the media after visiting Krishna Roy, an assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation, at the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pongu Hospital). Krishna, 52, lost a leg when a bus mounted on a footpath and ran her over at Banglamotor. Mahmud said the accident on footpath is a matter of concern. The State Minister said a special committee, formed to restore discipline in the transport sector, filed the recommendations on Aug 22 to Transport Minister Obaidul Quader.
