Girl ‘raped’ in Beanibazar

Police arrested a young man from Kakordia village here early Wednesday for repeatedly raping a physically-challenged girl with the ‘help’ of her stepmother. The arrestee is Hasan Ahmed, 26, son of Abdul Haque Lokhai Mia of the village. Police were also looking for the victim’s stepmother, Shirin Begum.

Police said the girl used to live with Shirin, third wife of the victim’s father who is an expatriate living in Saudi Arabia. Shirin reportedly developed an extramarital affair with Hasan taking the advantage of her husband’s absence. At one stage, Hasan targeted the physically-challenged girl and raped her on several occasions with the help of Shirin. He last violated the girl on Monday.

As the girl informed her mother of the incident, he took her from her former husband’s house with the help of police and took her to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

She also filed a case in this regard.

Following the filing of the case, police arrested Hasan from his house in the early hours of Wednesday, said Inspector (Investigation) of Beanibazar Police Station Jahidul Haque.
