Prominent gynecologist and former principal of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Prof Dr Syeda Nurjahan Bhuiyan passed away early yesterday. She was 79. Dr Nurjahan breathed her last around 3 at her residence in the city, said Dr Foysal Iqubal Chowdhury, general secretary, Bangladesh Medical Association(BMA), Chattogram unit. Her first namaz-e-janaza was held at central mosque of Chattogram Medical College after Johr prayers.
Dr Syeda Nurjahan was born on December 21, 1939 in Dhaka and studied in Eden Girls High School and Eden Girls' College and completed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)in 1963. Later she received MRCOGH and FRCOG degrees from London and started her career in 1968 as an assistant professor at DMCH.
