3,466 dengue patients released

A total of 3,466 dengue patients, who have been admitted to different hospitals since January to till today, have returned home after recovery. A total of 4,224 patients were admitted to the hospitals after being infected with the mosquito-borne disease so far, a release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Khulna Division said here yesterday. However, 10 people have died from the disease till now. A total of 593 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics in the Division. A total of 13,151 dengue test kits have been reserved in Khulna division. A total of 174 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in the last 24 hours across the division, 166 dengue patients were referred in the capital, the release added.
Man to die for killing

A Khulna court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death penalty for killing one person in Nabopalli area under Sonadanga police station in the city. The court also fined Tk 5,000 to the convict. Judge of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Shahidul Islam handed down the verdict against Khokon, a residence in Gopalganj district. According to the prosecution, Khokon stabbed Md Bashar, who married Khokons former wife Jesmin, to death in Nabopally Mosque lane area on November 6, 2015. On the next day, Jesmin filed a case against her first husband with Sonadanga Police Station in this connection. On March 3, 2017, S I Munsi Shafiqul Islam of CID who is also the investigative officer of the case pressed the charge sheet against Khokon.
