Strict actions against rooftop passengers of trains from Sept 1

The government will take stern legal actions from September 1 against passengers who will travel on the roofs of trains. “Traveling on the roofs of trains is risky, unsafe and a punishable offense. Traveling on the roof can cause death of the traveler in accidents any moment,” according to a railways ministry statement issued yesterday.

The statement said traveling on the roof delays and disrupts the train services and damages valuable public properties. “The rooftop travelers and those who encourage and support traveling on train’s roofs are equally guilty. From September 1, strict legal actions will be taken by the railway authorities against the passengers on the roof,” the statement said and requested the passengers not to travel on the train’s roof.
