Large caps push stocks down

Country’s both the bourses dwindled yesterday from the previous day for the negative movement of the large cap companies.

Capital bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) entered in red zone at the end of the yesterday’s session as all the large cap sectors, except food and allied, fuel and power and pharmaceuticals, showed negative movements.

At the end, the index closed red with 0.75 per cent decrease from the previous day.

Among them, food and allied exhibited highest positive movement with 1.43 per cent gain while textile exhibited highest negative movement with 1.31 per cent loss.

The core index, DSEX closed at 5139.99 points with a decline of 38.70 points. Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 decreased by 11.43 points and DSES decreased by 11.43 points to stand at 1817.71 points and 1192.54 points respectively.

A total number of 133,766 trades were executed in today’s trading session generating a turnover of Tk 4,567.13 million with a trading volume of 112.92 million securities. At DSE, 59 securities gained price while 262 declined and 29 remained unchanged.

The top ten gainers were Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, SEML FBLSL Growth Fund, Wata Chemicals, National Tubes, Monno Stafflers, Reckitt Benckiser, SEML Lecture Equity Management, Prime Insurance and Pragati Life Insurance.

United Power led the turnover list followed by National Tubes, Monno Ceramic, Wata Chemicals, Monno Stafflers and JMI Syringes & Mdical Devices.

The top ten losers were Shurwid Industries, Global Insurance, Exim Bank First Mutual Fund, First Bangladesh Fixed Income Fund, AB Bank First Mutual Fund, Trust Bank First Mutual Fund, Dulamia Cotton Spinning, Phoenix Insurance, Jute Spinners and EBL NRB Mutual Fund.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended session with a loss today. CSCX decreased by 54.04 points and CASPI decreased by 88.56 points.

At CSE, a total of 5,229,430 shares and mutual fund of 266 companies were traded, of which 60 issues advanced while 183 declined and 23 issues remained unchanged.
