Stress on ensuring nutrition to all to build healthy nation

Speakers at a function underscored the need for ensuring nutrition to all particularly the poor people to build a healthy nation through conducting mass awareness and nutritional activities massively.

“In this context, the officials of government and non-government organizations including the stakeholders of the society will have to come forward with positive attitudes to work coordinately to attain the cherished goals”, they said.

They came up with the comments while addressing a day long experience sharing workshop on Nutrition at the auditorium of SKS Inn, at Radhakrishnapur under Sadar upazila here on Monday.

Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO) project being implemented by RDRS Bangladesh and ICCO Cooperation with the financial support of European union arranged the workshop for the multi-sectoral stakeholders in the district.

The officials of GOB and NGO, who works aimed at ensuring nutrition for the people, made their presentations in phases through multimedia projector.

The officials included deputy director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Dr. SM Ferdous, district fisheries officer Abdul Dayan Dulu, senior scientific officer (SSO), On Farm Research Division, BARI, Gaibandha Dr. Abdullah Al-Mahmud, SSO of BIRTAN, Pirganj, Rangpur Dr. M. Sadequl Islam, senior technical officer of CARE Bangladesh Ruhul Amin, head of Social Marketing Company, North Division, Quazi M. Jafrullah, and regional coordinator of Friendship Abdus Salam.

In their presentations, the officials also gave their commitment to gear up the activities in the district to improve the nutrition status as the government expects.
