A 5-year-old girl was raped reportedly by a teenage madrasa boy at Paschim Hasamdiya village in Bhanga upazila on Tuesday. The victim was first taken to Bhanga Health Complex and then shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital due to excessive bleeding where she was undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis centre. Sub-inspector Pijush Kanti of Bhanga Police Station said the boy, aged around 14, took the girl to his kitchen and raped her.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rescued the girl and caught the boy. Police took the boy under their custody after victim’s mother filed a case on Tuesday night, Pijush said. The incident of rape has increased significantly in the recent months comparing to that of the previous year, a report of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad said on July 8.
