12 drug addicts jailed
In an anti-crime operation, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 12 youth drug addicts from City Hat area under Shahmukhdum police station of Rajshahi city on Thursday evening, RAB sources here said yesterday. Executive Magistrate Moid Rumon, who was present during the drive, in a brief trial convicted them based on circumstantial evidences and sentenced them to suffer 15 days behind the bar each. The convicts are--- Arif Hossain, 22, Sajal, 21, Jahurul Islam, 20, Shah Alam, 27, Riaz, 30, Hakim, 25, Babul Islam, 32, Munir, 28, Sattar, 29, Ripon, 25, Alam, 30, and Rajib, 27. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force led by the executive magistrate conducted a sudden raid in the growth center and picked them up red-handed.
BEUT admission test result

The result of undergraduate admission test under 2015-16 academic session of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was published on Thursday.Result and other information are available at the university website www.buet.ac.bd Departmental options will be taken online from November 7 to 12. Admission process will begin from November 28.
Illegally imported items seized
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized huge illegally imported items including bidi and biscuits worth Tk 16 lakh from Nayapur village along Jointapur border area of sylhet district on Thursday. Tipped off, a team of BGB battalion-41 conducted a drive in the village and seized a van around 4:30 am.Later the BGB members recovered five lakh pieces of Indian bidi, 530 packets of biscuits worth Tk 16 lakh from the covered van. However, no one was arrested as the smugglers managed to flee from the spot sensing the presence of the border guards.
Mild tremor jolts Sylhet
A mild earthquake shook different parts of the district early yesterday. The 4.17 magnitude earthquake was felt around 4:15 am which lasted for a few seconds. Current net seized in Barisal Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized 10 lakh meters of banned current net from Meghna River under Hizla upazila of Barisal district on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, the members of the Coast Guard in a drive seized 19 sacks loaded with current net from trawler in an abandoned condition, Coast Guard Contingent Commander of Harinathpur, Mohammad Bahar, told BSS. The staff fled from the trawler sensing the presence of the Coast Guard personnel. The seized nets were burnt, the commander added.
15 to get National Youth Award
National Youth Award will be given to 15 youths for their contributions to establishing self-employment projects on November 1, marking the National Youth Day. Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy on Thursday told this at a press conference at the conference room of the Youth and Sports Ministry. Joy said the theme of this year's National Youth Day is "Youth Awakened, Awakened Country: Goal is Developed Bangladesh in 2041". He said Directorate of Youth Development this year imparted institutional and non-institutional trainings to some 45,15,141 youths under 74 grades. The government has undertaken steps to upgrade and make the National Youth Policy-2003 time-befitting to cope with the changing socio-economic condition of the country and challenges of globalisation.
BAF's air-to-air firing ends
Air to Air Live Firing Exercise by K-8W and F-MB/FT-7B aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force concluded at Kutubdia firing range in Chittagong  on Thursday, an ISPR press release said, reports BSS. The exercise was started on 24 October 2015. Besides air to air firing, different air combat maneuvers and tactics were practiced during this exercise. The pilots and personnel of different ranks of Bangladesh Air Force actively participated in the exercise.
