Road accident kills one in Ctg

A man was killed and 23 others injured when a bus collided head-on with a covered van at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong yesterday. The deceased was Dhana Mia, 55, a passenger of the bus, hailed from Fathepur Nayapara area under Modhyom Police Station in Netrokona district. Among the injured 11 were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and the condition of seven of them was critical, said, Jahirul Islam, Sub-inspector of CMCH Police Outpost. Mizanul Fahamee, in-charge of Kumira Highway Police Outpost, told The Independent that the accident took place when a Chittagong-bound bus from Netrokona collided head-on with Dhaka-bound speedy covered van in Chuto Kumira area under Sitakunda upazila around 8am on Friday, leaving a bus passenger dead on the spot and 23 others injured.
