AFP, TOKYO: The dollar rallied yesterday after the Federal Reserve gave an upbeat outlook for the US economy and put a December interest rate rise on the table, while the yen rose on positive Japanese data that tempered talk of fresh central bank stimulus.
The won dropped 1.01 per cent against the dollar yesterday, while the rupiah fell 0.54 per cent and the Malaysian ringgit lost 0.30 per cent. The Australian, Philippines and Taiwanese currencies also retreated.
