Newly appointed Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam took over the responsibility yesterday, succeeding Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, who has been appointed an Alternate Executive Director to the World Bank (WB) for three years from November 1 this year.
Before joining as Cabinet Secretary, Mohammad Shafiul Alam was serving as the senior secretary of the land ministry. He was appointed Cabinet Secretary on October 25.
Shafiul Alam was born in Cox's Bazar in 1959 and did his BA and LLB in 1979-80 and MA in English in 1981 from the University of Chittagong. He later obtained his MS degree in Development Administration from the Birmingham University, UK.
