Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity yesterday demanded an end to charging extra fares and harassment of homebound passengers during this Eid-ul-Azha. Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of the Samity, also demanded removal of unfit vehicles and unskilled drivers from the highways. He was addressing a press conference organised by Dhaka Reporters Unity at Sagor-Runi Hall in the morning. Chowdhury demanded removal of all unfit vehicles to make homebound journey safer, smoother and accident-free. Transport Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday warned transport owners against charging extra fare, saying that anyone involved in the practice will be punished.
