Awami League (AL) presidium member and central 14-party alliance spokesman Mohammed Nasim yesterday urged the concerned authorities to continue its anti-dengue campaign round the year. He made the call while addressing a discussion meeting at the auditorium of Institution of Diploma Engineers (IDEB), Bangladesh in the capital.
The Bangabandhu Academy organised the meeting on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Urging people to clean up their homesteads and surroundings to stop breeding of mosquitoes, Nasim said, “I am urging all including the Health Ministry and City Corporations along with municipalities to conduct anti-dengue campaigns throughout the year.”
He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to prevent dengue…We must cooperate with her and follow the directives to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes for our wellbeing.”
With President of Bangabandhu Academy Nazmul Haque in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Chairman Hasanul Haque Inu, Awami League Central Leader Advocate Kamrul Islam, AL Dhaka South City unit Shahe Alam Murad, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua.
Later, Nasim inaugurated the dengue test centre at Motijheel Government Boys High School in the city where people can go for tests at free of cost.
