Kashmir issue India’s internal matter, says RAB chief

The issue surrounding Kashmir is India's internal matter. If any quarter in Bangladesh tries to create an issue out of it, the government will take drastic measures, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) director general (DG) Benazir Ahmed said yesterday (Friday). He was replying to a query of journalists during a media briefing, organised at the RAB media centre at Karwan Bazar in the capital.

When asked whether fundamentalism could rise again in Bangladesh centring around the Kashmir issue, Benazir said: "The Kashmir issue is India's internal matter and we have no comment on this. We don't have a huge number of ultra Islamists in our country. Those who reside here are under 24/7 surveillance.

RAB is monitoring security at each of the bus–launch terminals and railway stations to ease travel hassles. RAB is working to keep the Eid journey as normal as possible. “We will have CCTV monitoring for security of all important Eidgahs, including national Eidgahs. The dog squad will be there too," he added.
