Farida Parveen chosen for
Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal

Folk Queen-famed singer Farida Parveen is going to receive the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal this year, said a press release. The award ceremony of Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal will be held for the fourth time at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka on August 4. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Md Akhtaruzzaman as the chief guest will hand over the medal to Farida Parveen.
Presided over by Treasurer and Chairperson of Firoza Begum Memorial Trust Fund Prof Kamal Uddin, DU Arts Faculty Dean Professor Abu Mohammad Delwar Hossain will be present as special guest.
Since 2016, the University of Dhaka has introduced an award named Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal to keep the name of Feroza Begum alive. DU will award Feroza Begum Gold Medal to a nationally recognized music artiste every year. Nominated artiste will be awarded a gold medal and remuneration of Tk.1 lac through an event. In addition, a student of BA Honors from Music department of University of Dhaka with highest CGPA will receive a gold medal at the universitys convocation ceremony.
It is mentionable that artiste Sabina Yasmin, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Runa Laila were awarded for Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal by Dhaka University consecutively in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In addition, the best students of music department of Dhaka University were awarded for the same.
