Two siblings electrocuted

Two siblings were electrocuted to death near a canal in village Nithok Thingirpar of Cholbola union in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district this evening, police said. “The deceased were identified as Mafizul Islam, 18, and his younger brother Shakil Islam, 15, sons of Abdul Gafur of the same village,” OC of Kaliganj Thana Sajjad Hossain said. Mafizul was a second year intermediate student at nearby Chaparhat Degree College and Shakil was studying in class nine at Shialkhowa School and College in Kaliganj upazila. “The tragic incident occurred while Mafizul was trying to get electricity connection from a nearby area and electrocuted after coming in touch with an electrified cable there at 6:30 pm,” the OC said.
