Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan emphasized on formulating a long-term plan, stating that it’s high time for them to devise an opportune and comprehensive plan for them. Citing the recent tour in Sri Lanka as frustrating one, Shakib said that it could be a lesson for Bangladesh from where they can prepare a long-term plan and work on it accordingly.
If they could do so, Shakib believes, the way they have been advanced since the last four years will be progressed more than it. “It’s, of course, frustrating series for us. There is nothing of hide and seek for us,” said Shakib Al Hasan.
“Our match against Sri Lanka did not take place on the stroke of the ICC Cricket World Cup in England (due to rain). Many of us were sure that we will get full two points by beating them. But in this series, it has been proved that victory was not sure for us,” Shakib told media while he was taking part in an awareness programme of Dengue mosquitoes at Bidya Niketon School and College in Banani yesterday.
“We could be either won or lost the match against Sri Lanka. If I told about the series, it has been very frustrating for us. Even though we lost the series if we could win at least a match, it’ll assist our confidence,” he added.
“Time has come for us to formulate a three or four-year-long plan. I’m sure those who are now in BCB started thinking about the matter.” “In the meantime, the board has appointed two coaches for us. Maybe when the full coaching staff come together, they could give a full-fledged plan.”
“If we can move forward by planning, I firmly believe, the way we have moved forward for the last four years we will go forward further than it.”
“I always say that it’s not a matter of sharing with media. I don’t think that it is needed for all to know about it. It’s better to resolve the problem by discussing with players and coaching staff and those who are involved with team, those who are saturated with decision-making.”
When asked about Tamim Iqbal’s continual bat patch that has been started from World Cup, Shakib said that he needed to take a rest so that he could be freshened and make a comeback.
“Let’s see such a time might come for a player. It seems to me that it’s important for him to take a rest so that he could be recovered and fresh,” he said of Tamim Iqbal
“He will then stage a comeback strongly. I’m sure that he will do so,” he added.
Bangladesh have next series against Afghanistan at home. When asked if he is available for the series, Shakib said that he is going to perform Hajj tomorrow (Friday) for the nonce.
“Let see. If I be fit, (I will play the series),” he replied.
