Three to die for killing schoolboy

A court yesterday sentenced three people to death and another to life term imprisonment for killing a schoolboy in Mirsarai upazila here in 2015. The condemned convicts are Kazi Sarwar Uddin, Shahidul Islam and Mir Hossain while the lifer is Hosne Mobarak Rubel.

The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment. The court also sentenced condemned convict Kazi Sarwar, who was tried in absentia, to another 10 years imprisonment for his crime.

According to the prosecution, the convicts killed Farhan Sakib, 15, a class X student and son of Shahidul Islam of North Mobarakghona in Mirsarai upazila, by slitting his throat over previous enmity on June 6, 2015 after taking him to a forest in Nayatila hill of the area.
