Youth kills bride’s father at wedding function

A youth yesterday stabbed to death his ‘so called’ girlfriend’s father at wedding function of a girl in Maghbazar area of the capital. The deceased was identified as Tula Mia, 47 a residence of Dilu Road of Maghbazar, his wife Firoza Begum was also hurt and admitted to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH). Md Abdur Rashid, officer in charge (OC) of Hatirjheel police station, confirmed about the matter and said the youth was identified as Sajib Ahmed Rocky, 22.

“The youth came to the marriage event with machete and stabbed indiscriminately to Tula Mia. Firoza Begum came to help and also injured.   Both were taken to DMCH and the on duty doctor declared him dead,” the official said, adding that locals beat Sajib and handed over to police.  The youth is a drug addict and recently back from jail, said locals.

Ramjan Mia, Sub Inspector of Hatirjheel police station said that Sajib introduced himself as the lover of the girl. Recently he was released from jail. “Knowing about the marriage of the girl, he went to the house of Tula Mia and stabbed him,” he added.
