Sylhet experience first victory in NCL

Sylhet Division experienced their first victory when they thrashed Chittagong Division on the final day of the Tier-2 match in the Walton National Cricket League (NCL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong yesterday.
Dhaka Metro vs Khulna Division at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah and Dhaka Division vs Rangpur Division at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra matches ended in a draw. The remaining match of the fifth round was settled on the third day when Barisal stunned hosts Rajshahi by eight wickets on Monday.

Chittagong vs Sylhet
Sylhet Division started batting in unwavering manner after lunch to get a target of 259 runs set by the host Chittagong Division, who added 84 runs at the exchange of four wickets before the lunch break resuming the final day at 188-6.
Overnight batsman Yasir Ali struck half-century after Tasamul Haque. Ali finally top-scored for Chittagong with 81, clobbering nine fours and one six in his 133-ball knock. Dollar Mahmud fell for 31. Rahatul Ferdous grabbed four wickets for 72. Enamul Haque Jr. took two wickets for the Sylhet.
A solid start by their opening stand of 140 runs between Shahnaj Ahmed (61) and Imtiaz Hossain (74) set the foundation for Sylhet. Hossain notched 74 off 98, clubbing seven boundaries.
Together with Zakir Hasan, Ahmed shared 45 runs for the second wicket before being caught out by Mohammad Saifuddin off Mehedi Hasan Rana. Shahnaj Ahmed cracked 76.
Capitalising the set ground, Zakir Hasan sent the team at the close of victory. When he was out for 55 when the team was four runs away from victory. Ruman Ahmed slotted the home with a towering six off Nabil Samad. Ahmed smashed 11 from six balls with one six and one four so far. Later Shahnaj Ahmed was adjudged the player of the match.

Metro vs Khulna
Resuming the fourth day at 122-5, Dhaka Metropolis added 140 runs in their second innings to stretch their lead 294-run before the tea break when minimum 25 overs left for
the day.
Overnight not out batsman Asif Ahmed chipped in with 32. Sharifullah added 57 runs with his overnight 10. He top-scored for Dhaka Metro with 67 off 154 that feathered with half-dozen boundary.
In reply, Khulna Division finished the final day with 84-2. Anamul Haque and Mehedi Hasan struck an identical 31 each before being victimised by Arafat Sunny.  Imrul Kayes remained at stumps on 19. Ziaur Rahman was on three not out. Shamshur Rahman was named the player of the match.

Rangpur vs Dhaka
Dhaka Division finished the final day with 247-4 resuming the 2nd innings at 34-1. They put on 276 in first innings knock, in response to, Khulna’s healthy total of 463. Abdul Mazid went back cheaply when Dhaka was a ragged mess at 39-2. Saif Hassan came at stumps and hit an innings saving 114-run for the third wicket with Roqibul Hasan, who unfortunately was run out for 42. Thereafter, Saif made another 40-run with Nadif Chowdhury before being trapped lbw by Suhrawardi Shuvo. Hassan fell 16 runs short of century. He smashed 10 fours as well as one six in his patient 257-ball innings.
Nadif Chowdhury sailed through the home with Mohammad Sharif, who remained unbeaten on 15. Chowdhury was on 58 off 77 not out.
Subashis Roy, Sajedul Islam and Suhrawdi Shuvo claimed one wicket apiece for Rangpur.   Naeem Islam of Rangpur was rewarded the player of the match for scoring a century.
