Rajon murder verdict Nov 8

A Sylhet court here on Tuesday fixed November 8 to pass the judgment on the much-talked about Samiul Alam Rajon murder case.
The court set the date upon completion of the closing arguments, which continued for three days.
Judge of Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court Akbor Hossain Mridha fixed the date in presence of 11 accused in the dock.
After hearing the verdict date, Rajon’s father burst into tears in the courtroom.  
Placing of arguments in the Rajon murder case started on Sunday in the presence of the 11 accused.
Most of the prosecution side placed their arguments on the first day while the rest of the prosecution and most of the defence side gave their arguments on the second day.
On the last day, rest of the defence, including Kamrul, gave their arguments.
Earlier on October 21, the court also recorded the testimonies of 11 witnesses afresh, out of the 35 who gave their depositions earlier following petition by the defense.

On October 18, the court had rejected the plea submitted by the defense to rerecord the testimonies of the 35 witnesses.
As on 20 October when the court proceedings started for opinions, defense counsel Ali Haider appealed to the court to rerecord the testimonies of 15 witnesses, the court granted rerecording testimonies of 11.
The lawyer for key accused Kamrul Islam pleaded for rerecording testimonies of the 35 witnesses because he and his client were not present during testimonies of the witnesses from October 1 to 18.  Earlier the court also fixed October 25 for closing arguments.
On  October 15, key accused Kamrul was brought back home from KSA.
Later on the next day he was produced before a court which sent him to jail and fixed  October 18 for the next hearing.
On September 7, the Rajon murder case had been transferred to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court from Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
Earlier, police pressed charges against 13 people, including prime accused Kamrul Islam, for their involvement in the killing.
Later the court accepted the charge sheet on August 24.
After the charge sheet was accepted, police confiscated wealth of two accused, including Kamrul and Shamim, following a court order.
