Abducted girl rescued

MAGURA: A 14-year-old schoolgirl was rescued 53 days after her abduction from Daribila village under Sripur upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The girl was Swarna Khatun, a student of class X and daughter of Nilu Miah, a resident of Dariapur village in the upazila.
Sub inspector of Sripur Thana Abdur Rahim said on information, a team of police conducted a drive at the village yesterday morning and rescued the girl who was abducted on September 4 last.
Earlier, Swarna's father Nilu Miah, filed a case with Sripur police station against Anisur Rahman, resident of the same area, after the abduction of his daughter.
Police arrested Milon Miah and Asmani Begum, parents of Anisur in this connection.

One killed over land dispute

A school teacher was strangled to death allegedly by his brother at village Char Kamaria Bhatipara in Gafargaon upazila of Mymenisngh on Monday.
The deceased is Anwar Hossain Selim, 55, an assistant teacher of Char Machlanda Dargahbari High School in Gafargaon.Quoting local sources sub-inspector Jahidur Rahman Badal of Gafargaon police station said Selim had a long standing dispute with his younger brother Abdus Sabur, a farmer, for a long time.
Following the dispute, Sabur and Selim locked in an altercation over the issue on their home yard at around 9 am. At one stage, Sabur punched Selim down on the ground and strangulated his neck.
Hearing the scream, local people rushed to the spot and took him to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctors declared him dead.Police sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
 
Man held with arms, ammo
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chapainawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested an alleged arms trader with a foreign made pistol, five rounds of bullet and two magazines at Chama village in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.
The arrested person has been identified as Md. Rubel, 23, of Chotochak village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
RAB sources said acting on detective information that Rubel had been waiting on a road at Chama with arms and ammunition for selling them, a team of RAB from Rajshahi raided the area around 4-45 pm and held the man with the arms and ammunition.During the primary interrogation Rubel confessed to his involvement in illegal arms trade for a long time.
