In a mass robbery, robbers looted at least 12 fishing trawlers in Feyar Boya area in the Bay of Bengal early yesterday,. The robbers also abducted 40 fishermen, including 12 fishermen hailing from Kuakata. At least four fishermen received bullet injures as the robbers opened fire on them, said witnesses. Ansar Mollah, president of Alipur fishery co-operative society, said riding on a high-power Indian trawler, the gang attacked the fishermen on Monday night and committed robbery till yesterday morning. The bandits looted hilsa fish worth Tk 1 crore, 2 fishing trawlers and engine. Fazlu Gazi, president of Mohipur fishery co-operative society, said the gang of ‘Master Bahini’ led the robbery. Sub-inspector Sanjay Mondal, in-charge of Kuakata river police outpost, confirmed the incident.
