KUET admission tests Nov 6

KHULNA: The admission test for the first year BSc Engineering and BURP courses under the academic sessions 2015-16 of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) will be held on November 6 from 9am to 12noon, said a university press release. According to the press release, a total of 10,207 applications have been primary qualified for 11 (eleven) departments under 3 (three) faculties, will sit for test against 875 seats. Sources said on an average around twelve candidates will vie for each seat. The detailed information relating to admission will be available on university website (www. admission.kuet.ac.bd).  Besides, further information about admission can be obtained after contacting office of the registrar of the university (PABX +880-41-769468-Ext: 158, 138, 189). In case of necessity regarding admission, email address, [email protected] can be used, the press release said.

JU ‘D’ unit admission test result published

SAVAR: The admission test result of ‘D’ unit under the Biological Sciences Faculty of Jahangirnagar University (JU) for 2015-16 academic session has been published yesterday where 9 per cent of the admission seekers passed the test. A total of 3714 admission seekers out of 41, 091 passed the test against 365 seats, confirmed Mohammad Ali, member secretary of Central Admission Conducting Committee. The results are available on university website (www.juniv.edu/admissionresults/) or it can be collected through short message service (SMS) on any mobile operator service. For SMS notification of the result, a candidate will have to type JU<Space>R<Space>Roll No and send it to 9933.   Meanwhile, the admission tests for ‘H’ unit (Institute of Information Technology) and ‘B’ unit (Faculty of Social Science) will be held today (October 28), ‘E’ unit (Faculty of Business Studies), ‘F’ unit (Faculty of Law) and ‘G’ unit (Institute of Business Administration) will be held on October 29 while admission test for ‘C’ unit (Faculty of Arts of Humanities) will be held from October 31 to November 2.
Deputy Registrar (education) Mohammad Ali told this correspondent that 2, 26, 572 admission seekers have applied for 2000 seats under 38 departments and two institutes this year. According to JU authority, 113 candidates will compete for a seat, said Mohammad Ali, also member-secretary of the Central Admission Tests Conduct Committee.

Civil Fest-2015 held at NSU

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEED) of North South University (NSU) organised an event named ‘Civil Fest’ yesterday on the NSU campus at Bashundhara in the capital, says a press release. Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, former advisor to a Caretaker Government, attended as the chief guest where Gour Gobinda Goswami, Vice-Chancellor (in-charge), NSU chaired.  Benajir Ahmed, immediate past chairman and member, BOT, NSU, was the guest of honour.  The event featured a technical session where Rehana Rahman, member, BOT, NSU, was the chief guest of technical session of the event. The event include a civil engineering industry fair, Science Olympiad for school and college students, photography exhibition for college and university students, and case study analysis and poster/project exhibition for university students followed by a cultural show by the students of CEED. Feroze Ahmed, vice-chancellor, Stamford University; Maj. Gen. Abu Syeed M Masud, chief coordinator of Padma Bridge project, and Md Sirajul Islam, dean, SEPS, NSU, were present, among others.

SEU nominated for Best Regional University

Southeast University (SEU) has been nominated for the 'Best Regional University' category in the Europe Business Assembly Prestigious International Award in science and education sphere. The vice-chancellor of SEU Anwar Hossain was also nominated for the title 'Best Manager of the Year' in science and education sphere, a SEU press release said. In recognition of its successful performance in professional, scientific and educational directions and dynamic growth in the education sector, the Europe Business Assembly (EBA) nominated the Southeast University for the award. The award presentation ceremony will take place on December 15, 2015 in the world science and education capital Oxford, in the UK, the release added.
