Mayor for providing vitamin A Capsule to every baby

RANGPUR:  Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu here today asked the parents, officials, public representatives for providing Vitamin A Plus Capsule to every under-five baby, reports BSS. He said Vitamin A increasing disease resistant capacities of the babies, ensures their normal growth, reduces death risks, prevents night blindness and other vision problems, bitot's spots and corneal lesions. Jhantu said this while addressing an advocacy and planning meeting at his office here on the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign- 2015 to be held on November 14 next for administering Vitamin A Plus Capsules the under five babies as the chief guest. Divisional Director (Health) Dr Anisur Rahman and Civil Surgeon Dr Mozammel Hossain attended the occasion as the special guests with RCC Secretary Fazlul Kabir in the chair. City Councilors, Medical Officer of RCC Dr Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz, RCC Medical Officer Abdul Kaiyum, health officials, supervisors and volunteers of different organisations were present. The Mayor said 33 category-1 supervisors, 7 category-2 supervisors and 879 volunteers will provide Vitamin A Plus Capsules at 293 outreach centres and 8 satellite centres, in all 33 wards of the RCC area from 8am to 4pm on the day.
He said the babies aged between 6 and 11 months and others between 12 and 59 months will be administered with one dose of one lakh unit Vitamin A Plus Blue Capsules and one dose of two lakh unit of Vitamin A Red Capsules each respectively.  The under- five babies, who were immunised with Vitamin A Plus Capsules anytime during the past four months period, do not need to be immunised during the campaign," he added.
Civil Surgeon Dr Mozammel Hossain narrated the absolute importance of providing Vitamin A Plus Capsule to every under- five baby and said that the vitamin will help babies in preventing various diseases and ensure their normal growth.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Anisur Rahman suggested the parents to provide Vitamin A Plus Capsule to every under-five baby for increasing their disease resistant capacities, reduce infant mortality and prevent night blindness.
