Speakers at a programme in the city yesterday stressed the need for awareness about sanitation and hygiene, says a press release. Innovative methods like women’s football and cricket matches should be used to promote water, sanitation and hygiene awareness in the community, said Zuena Aziz, director general (Additional Secretary), MEI Wing, Local Government Division, MoLGRD&C yesterday. Stressing the importance of awareness raising, she also said that improving the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) situation across the country is closely linked with women’s participation in decision making and their empowerment. Zuena Aziz was speaking at the Best Practice Sharing workshop of the Bangladesh WASH Alliance organised at Cirdap auditorium in the capital yesterday.
