Man surrenders to police after killing wife

A man surrendered to police after killing his wife at Kalartikor in Paba upazila yesterday. Shariful Islam Rentu, son of Khoka of the village, killed his wife Lovely Begum, 28, after slitting her throat and severing her tendons at his house sometime in the night, Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Damkura Police Station. Later, he surrendered to police at Damkura Police Station around 3:30 am.

Rentu and Lovely had been at loggerheads for long over extra-marital affair of Lovely, said the OC. Police recovered the body of Lovely from his house in the morning and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
