A fire broke out at the office of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) in Maijdee court at around 10:30 am yesterday.
Abdul Gofur, deputy divisional engineer of BTCL, said fire fighters from Maijdee fire station rushed in and brought the fire under control within a short time.
However, three air –conditioned rooms and two other rooms of BTCL have been affected by the fire, he added.
Md Shahidur Rahman, a sub-divisional officer, said the fire occurred due to short circuit in a room and engulfed adjoining rooms. The damage caused by the fire has been estimated at Tk 10 to Tk 15 lack, he said.
