Ensuring eco-friendly sanitation stressed

KHULNA: Speakers at a discussion yesterday stressed the need for ensuring environment-friendly sanitation and safe water for the people to remove public health hazards, reports BSS. To this end, natural supply of safe water must be ensured, they said, adding that there is no alternative to effective measures for ensuring supply of safe water. They also said that people of all ages, including children, would be able to get rid of diarrhoea, jaundice and others water-borne diseases if they wash their hands regularly.
The speakers said at the meeting held at the auditorium of Khulna Officers Club in observance of National Sanitation Month and World Hand Wash Day-2015. The speakers underscored the need for using sanitary toilets by all and urged not to toilet under the open sky. A hand wash program was displayed in the meeting.
Khulna divisional administration, Khulna district administration, Khulna city corporation (KCC) and directorate of public health and engineering jointly organised the meeting with deputy commissioner Mostofa Kamal in the chair.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Abdus Samad addressed the meeting as the chief guest while chief executive officer of KCC Gokul Krisna Ghosh, director of local government department Nischinta Kumar Poddar addressed as special guests. Engineers of public health of different districts under Khulna Division, officials of education and information department, UP members and NGOs representatives and officials concerned attended the meeting.
