Khulna: A court will record on October 28 the deposition of defence witnesses in a case filed in connection with the killing of 12-year-old boy Rakib in torture by his former employer over quitting job, reports UNB. Metropolitan Sessions Judge Dilruba Sultana fixed the date yesterday after completing recording the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses. On the same day, the court will also hear the accused in the case.
Earlier on Sunday, chief investigation officer Kazi Moshtak Ahmed and Dr Ohid Mahmud, who conducted the postmortem on the body of Rakib, made their deposition before the court.
Advocate Mominul Islam, a lawyer appointed by the plaintiff of the case, said 38 witnesses out of total 40 have made their deposition before the court.
The defence counsel, Advocate Touhidur Rahman Tushar, cross-examined the witnesses yesterday.
On August 3, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employer over quitting job.
Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people—M Omar Sharif, Mintu and Beauty Begum— after the brutal killing.
Later, Mintu Khan, a so-called uncle of M Omar Sharif, the prime accused in the Rakib killing case, reportedly confessed to his crime before a local court on August 13 while Sharif made his confessional statement on August 12 and his mother Beauty Begum, also an accused in the case, confessed to her involvement in the incident on August 6.
