Partisan local polls to cause bloodshed, says Ershad

Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad has said that bloodshed will occur in every family if local government elections are held under the party banner. The AL government is going to stage the poll drama to "hold on to power for another term", he alleged.
"The government has failed to maintain law and order. Two foreigners have been killed. Even policemen are not being spared. The Election Commi-ssion has no backbone. We do not want such an EC, we want a neutral commission. We did not get justice from the AL or the BNP. So, I have decided to contest the election on our own. Man desires change. Coming to power is not impossible, if Allah wants it," Ershad said.
As chief guest, Ershad was addressing the bi-annual council of the Tangail district JP at Bhashani Hall yesterday.
