Share transaction at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose yesterday when a good number of investors were buying large-cap shares as those came cheaper due to price fall in the past few trading session. Bank, cement and telecom shares experienced the most selling pressures on the day, reports BSS.
Price of 127 A-category securities closed the day lower when the daily trade value increased by 27.56 per cent to Tk 415.46 crore from Sunday’s Tk 325.79 crore.
Accordingly, the trade volume went up by 6.02 per cent to 10.17 crore shares from 9.59 crore shares of the last session. The market was also in favour of buyers, with 151 securities closing lower when 118 issues gained marginally among the day’s 320 issues traded.
Banking sector lost steam on the market after some leading banks declared consolidated net NOCFPS (Operating Cash Flow Per Share), which was lower than last year.
The NOCEFS is the portion of a company’s profit that is allocated to each outstanding share of common stock. While announcing the 3rd quarter financial report, Brac Bank, One Bank and Dhaka Bank showed the NOCEFS much lower than last year.
The major advancing sectors of the day were power and fuel, food and allied and textile.
The major lagging sectors included bank, engineering, telecom, cement and NBFI.
Jute Spinning, Padma Life, Northern Jute, Imam Button and Quasem Drycell were the most lagging issues on the day when CVO Petrochemical, Lafarge Surma Cement, SPCL and KDS Accessories Limited were the top five liquid shares.
Paramount Textile became the day’s top gainer with over 10.12 per cent rise on its ex-dividend trading. The company declared 16.0 per cent cash dividend for the year ending on June 30, 2015. The other major advancing issues were 3rd ICB, BD Welding, Desh Garment and LR Global MF1.
Like DSE, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day lower, with its CSCX losing nearly 34 points to 8601.87.
Out of the 227 issues traded, 92 closed higher and 103 lower while 77.38 lakh shares worth Taka 28.43 crore changed hands.
