A physician was found dead at his residence in Baghbari area of the city on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Dr Habib Ullah Khan, an assistant professor of Paediatric Surgery department of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, hailing from Munshiganj's Sreenagar upazila.
Omar Faruk, in-charge of the hospital police outpost, said the doctor used to live alone in a rented house in Shamimabad.
On Monday, he did not attend his work at the hospital. At the end of the day, the hospital authorities sent a person to his residence to see what actually happened to him where he found the doctor dead. Being informed, police recovered the body of Dr Habib Ullah Khan, an assistant professor of Paediatric Surgery department of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 9pm and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The doctor might have died of heart attack, the OC added.
