‘Drug addict son’ kills mother

A 'drug addict son' reportedly beaten his mother to death by a hammer at Arijpur in Godagari municipality here on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Selina Begum, 50, wife of Md Shahabuddin of the area. Godagari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam said Selina's son Abdus Salek, 30, beat her mother to death by a hammer on Sunday night at their house after she refused to give him money for buying drugs.

Abdus tried to hang her mother to hide the incident but later fled away as neighbors saw the incident, the OC added. On information, police recovered the body with a rope around her neck. Police also found the hammer at the spot.
