A fire broke out at Dhaka University (DU) Central Library yesterday, but no casualties were reported. Khandakar Abdul Jalil, deputy assistant director of fire service, said that, the fire broke out on the ground floor of the three-storey building around 10:45am yesterday. “The fire originated from electric short circuit. Library employees put out the flame themselves before members of fire service reached the spot.” No other floor was damaged in the fire, he said. DU Proctor Golam Rabbani said, “Firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire.” No casualties, however, were reported in the fire incident. The library has been closed following the incident.
