The three-day long ‘Bangladesh Music Week’ is set to begin from November 5, which will include discussions, opinion exchange programme and finally a concert. A music conference will be held on the first day, which will include a day-long opinion exchange programme at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). On the second day, there will be a discussion event titled ‘Constructive and Liberal Culture: Can East Ever Meet West?’, where Afrida Mahbub, Sharmin Sultana Sumi, Mehreen Mahmud, Elita Karim, among others, will participate. A concert will be held on November 6 and 7, which will feature Arshingar Bangladesh, Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts, Chirkutt, Shakti, Shironmahin and Speak Easy. On the next day, band music troupes Lalon, Brotherhood Project, Minar, Nrittyanandan, Power Surge and Triratna will perform. From 4 pm onwards to 8 pm, there will be musical performances at Rabindra Sarobar in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. According to a member of the organizer Live Square Entertainment, the main goal for Bangladesh Music Week is to bring all music personalities, artistes, policy makers, patrons and audiences together under the same roof, so that they will talk and listen about music; there will also be debate and discussion. As a result, various problems centring the music industry can be addressed and the necessary actions will be taken to resolve them.
