Student’s body recovered
Fire service recovered the body of SSC candidate Palak from Fatullah Balughat area of Narayanganj city on Saturday.
He was a SSC candidate of Fatullah Pilot High School. He went to Shitalakka River along with others to participate in the immersion of goddess Durga on Friday evening.
During the immersion he fell in the river from the boat at night. His father searched him at night and could not trace out.
Later his father informed the incident to local administration at night.
Members of Postagola fire station started searching in the river Shitalakka on Sunday morning and recovered the body of Palak after 11 hours searching in Balughat area.
Two die from snakebites
A minor girl and her younger brother died from snakebite at Patgram village under Baro Alampur union in Pirganj upazila in the district on Saturday night, police and local sources said.
The victims were Nazma Begum, 10, and her younger brother Shaharul Islam, 7, respectively daughter and son of farmer Nazrul Islam of the village.
A poisonous cobra bit them around 11:30pm on Saturday while they were asleep at bedroom in their house.
Shaharul succumbed to the venom on his way to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex while Nazma breathed her last at home. Chairman of Baro Alampur union Abdur Rahman and Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Thana Rezaul Karim have confirmed the incident and deaths of the minor girl and her younger brother.
Man falls to death
A man died after falling into an oil tanker and another injured at an oil depot at Sitakund of Chittagong on Saturday.
The man was Md Suman, 30, son of Md Hasan of Sitakunda area and the injured was Md Anis, 35, son of Mofzulur Rahman, hailing from Bhola district.
Chittagong Medical College Police outpost sources said while the duo were working at an Oil depot named ‘Khaja Azmir Oil’ at Bhatiari and suddenly fell into oil tanker around 11.30pm and being affected by gas of the empty tanker. Later, they were rushed to the CMCH where on-duty doctor pronounced Suman dead.
