A court of Chittagong yesterday sent three jewellery businessmen to jail for their involvement with gold smuggling in a sensational case. Md Shahenur, Metropolitan session judge order to send them in jail. The three gold businessmen were identified as Narayan Karmakar, 50, Dulal Karmakar, 40, and Paritosh Dey, 28. Contacted, Md Fakruddin Chowdhury, told The Independent, “Three businessmen got bail from Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on May 18, In the meantime police submitted charge sheet of the case. Sunday was fixed for hearing of the case, the businessmen also appeared before the court, and the court sent them to jail.” On January 14, Kowtali police arrested Dulal Karmokar and Paritosh Dey along with 65 bars of gold from Cinema Place area of the city.
