Independent TV got off to a winning start in the Pepsi-DRU Media Cricket beating Manabjamin by 22 runs in one of the opening day’s matches at
Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.
Sujon Mehedi of the winning side earned the man of the match award.
A total of six matches were decided on the day. Dhaka Reporters Unity is organizing the tournament. Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Minister Anisul Haque inaugurated the tournament as chief guest.
Transcom Beverage Brand Co-ordinator Sharfuddin Bhyian was also present on the occasion on behalf of the sponsor house.
Bangla Mail inflicted a crushing 90-run defeat on The Independent, Daily Observer defeat ATN News by three wickets, NTV beat Aamader Samoy by 40 runs, while R-TV received walkover against Daily Sun and Daily Kalbela got walkover against Asian TV in the other matches of the day.
