Post-deprived Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men yesterday withdrew their hunger strike following assurance from Awami League General Secretary Oabidul Quader of looking into their demands. Awami League central committee member Marufa Akter Popy went to the striking BCL men at the base of Raju Memorial Sculpture in the evening and conveyed the assurance.
Following the assurance, the post-deprived Chhatra League leaders and activists broke their hunger strike by sipping water after three days.
Spokesperson of the deprived fraction and former planning and programme affairs secretary, Rakib Hossain, said, "We have
faith in our party general secretary and that's why we called off the strike after his assurance."
